Range of service: logo design

The Opek Company is a renowned courier firm.
In March of 2009 Opek turned to us to recreate its graphic symbol, to make it more modern while simultaneously maintaining the brand’s recognizable form. The impetus to change the image was, inter alia, an article which appeared in Newsweek’s business of section (No. 5 / 2009), The First Million, entitled Company Marketing (issued in February of 2009), which analyzed company logos, including Opek’s logo. The company drew conclusions from both the article and its own observations, and decided to change its logo.

During our work on the image, one of our main guidelines was to improve the legibility of the company's name and create a contemporary logo. During the first few days of our work we could not skip over certain barriers that limited the work of our designers: the form and elements of the existing image. The logo’s typography was updated, we got rid of the characteristic indentations in the letters P and E. We also got rid of the highlighting around the name and aligned the letter "O". But the logo still did not have the contemporary quality of an image that can withstand time.

A breakthrough occurred once we placed the company’s name inside an oval. The sign was used in its negative and the slanted circle and an additional shadow on the right side gave the image a dynamic character, which we believe is essential in the courier company logos, where delivery time is one of the most important features of the service itself. A strongly contoured red element of the circle was slightly modified, while the claim COURIER DELIVERIES (PRZESYŁKI KURIERSKIE) was moved slightly to the left, offering a bit of asymmetry.
